PARTS MANAGER

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Parts Manager to oversee the daily operations of our shop facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems and parts management, with a proven track record of effectively managing a parts department. The Parts Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of inventory, safety protocols, and maintaining high standards of quality. This role requires exceptional leadership abilities to guide a team, foster collaboration, and maintain clear communication across departments.

Duties

  • Forecast part needs, order, and receive parts to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimise downtime.
  • Monitor, label, and catalogue inventory to maintain accurate stock records and ensure easy accessibility.
  • Price parts to maintain profitability and assist customers in selecting and purchasing the correct items.
  • Oversee special orders and collaborate with service managers to ensure the availability of parts for repair jobs.
  • Supervise and train parts department staff, fostering a positive team atmosphere with all departments and suppliers.
  • Organise inventory storage in the warehouse, tool room, or supply areas.
  • Process requisitions, manage the inventory control system, and track work orders for efficient operations.
  • Prepare and submit warranty and return claims to maximise credits and maintain department tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Implement and maintain effective parts department processes to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual physical inventory of all parts.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and provide timely support to field technicians.
  • Perform general office duties and support additional shop tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in HVAC systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data entry and familiarity with supply chain management principles.
  • Ability to fabricate components as needed for production processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively lead a team.
  • Experience with demand planning and inventory management is desirable.
  • Parts counter and warehouse experience would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge in Heavy Duty parts industry as well as knowledge in transmissions and differentials would also be a definite asset.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Driver’s Licence.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
